Inner Calling

Light slithers through the open window
Heart awakens the lips for a smile
Life begins, a race to earn and thrive
Destiny awaits to throw fireballs
You and I keep chasing distant clouds
History never allowed men to rest; how could I?
When the land was a comfortable bed
Earthquakes, floods, and wars destroyed
What does the future hold for us?
Will we eternally own the land of surprises?
Uncared, my eyes keep dreaming –
A meadow, a hut, and my happy family – but
When rain continues for a day, and power shuts down
My dream melts away like ice in the refrigerator.
The darkness before the rain, the silence of the room
Is the earth going to self-destruct? I tremble.
The evil mind warns of a scary impending doom,
Why should I worry when I know death is inevitable?
May Maya Angelou and Leo Rojas color the sunlit room
I watch and admire all the good in the world as if it were my destiny.
